  • The collaborative story will be ready to share by December 7, 2015.
You can find some inspiration in this book called Winter...The Coldest Season of All. Theres more about that on this link right here!

Storybird!

Hey Everyone!

Today I have a post about the FABULOUS web tool Storybird! Storybird is basically a website that allows you to write, purchase, and read books that people have created!

To create a story, you first select the art that you want to use. One of my favorite features is the AMAZING variety, of high quality art, that you get to choose from!

After you choose the art you want to use, you are able to choose what kind of story you want to write.  It can be a poem, picture book, or long story!

Once your story is published, you are provided categories for the story.  Then you decide if you want it to be private or public and what age range this book is for!

So, that's basically it for Storybird! Here's the link to the story I created: My story!

Thank for tuning in and I'll see you all next time!

It's me again with another amazing web tool called Flocabulary!

Flocabulary provides a free trial and allows you to experience the site and its capabilities before you buy the program.

Flocabulary is all about learning through music videos!

Once you are at the homepage, if you go up to the top of the page, you will find the tab for "Songs and Videos".  Once selected, you have the option to click on various subjects.  When a subject is chosen you get different selections for each topic.

After you're done with the video, you go through a series of different pages that include the following options:
  • Quick Review
  • Interactive Lyrics
  • Fill in the Blanks
Lastly, you will and be provided a quiz, so you can see what you or a student has comprehended.

Happy 4th of July!

Hey Guys! - Meridan here!

So, I have checked out an amazing web-tool that is awesome in general, but very suitable for the 4th of July as well! The web-tool is called Tynker.  It's a coding website that you can use to create an animation that you can play over and over again!

Here's an example of the code I used to create my animated picture from the website:

I like it because it gives step by step directions on how to code your animation like below.

It's fun, but also would be a good tool to use in class, because it incorporates thinking and little bit of math.

Once you are finished with your beautiful fireworks show, you can share it with your teachers, family and friends!

This is mine.  To make the fireworks appear just click on the screen and they will  pop up!

I hope you enjoy your 4th of July and have fun with the amazing Tynker!

Thanks! Bye!

Canva

Hello Everybody,

I hope you had a Happy Fathers Day! Today I bring you guys a fantastic web tool known as Canva. This tool is great to use for any holiday!

The way you use Canva is simple. It's a basic tool that allows you to create a card for any occasion. The tools it has available to use are the following:

  • Search - which you use for finding pictures
  • Frames - allows you to make things fancier
  • Shapes
  • Lines- which you use to underline
  • Illustrations
  • Charts

Here is a pic of my dad. I made him a card for Fathers Day. He works all the time, but he is still AWESOME!

Once you are finished with your card, like I am, you have the option to share your project and put it out to the public.  See below:

So, that's all I have for today!  Hope your Father's Day was great and I hope you use Canva for all your card making needs!

Chromville

Hey Guys!

Meridan here and I'm doing a review on another fantastic web tool called Chromville!

Basically, I've had an awesome day coloring with my new friends Dana, Ronnie, Walt, Zoe, and Fred!  See a couple of the characters below:
Chromville allows you to print out pages of these characters along with a choice of scenery. From there, you color them in and get a special app from the app store to watch the magic come to life! Here's what the pages look like that you color:

The app will let you bring your amazing creations to life in 3D making them move around and play! This is a picture of the color page and what they look like through your camera:

Get on today!  Thanks everyone for reading and I hope to see you all on Chromville sometime soon!
Thx! <3

Duolingo: The Online Language Learning Website/App!

Hey Everyone,

Welcome back to another post on another brilliant web tool!  Duolingo is an online language learning tool that helps you... you guessed it...learn new languages!!! You have a wide verity of languages to learn. One of the best parts has to be that you have NO limit to how many languages you can learn!

Duolingo is also used in classrooms! Teachers can assign a certain things in each kid's profile that they have to reach.

If that doesn't please you, you can also track their growth and work time. This web tool also provides the user:
  • Instant Checking - It allows you to see if you got the question right or wrong immediately after you answer it.

  • Diverse Types of Questions - Duolingo has the ability to provide listening questions, reading questions, spelling questions and speaking questions.

  • Streak Count - Allows you to track your own time on the website and set daily goals for yourself.

  • Hearts - I love the "Hearts" method they use to keep you into it and make it challenging at the same time! You have 3 hearts per round.  You get 3 wrong then you automatically have to start the round over.

Duolingo is obviously one of my favorite web tools to use! If you have a phone or ipad you can also get the app, from the app store for free, so you can take it on the go! My class has really enjoyed using Duolingo and I bet your classes will to!

Thanks for reading!  Stay Tuned :)

Padlet BackPack! A new and improved way to use Padlet!

Hey Guys!

Meridan here and boy do I have a great new tool for you! It's called Padlet Backpack!

Now, before I go into detail, let me talk about Padlet in general first.  Basically, Padlet is a site that allows you to:

  • Take personal notes
  • Make to-do lists
  • Create your own party invitations
  • Give feedback to others
  • Wish people well on special occasions, like birthdays
  • And anything else that you might need to give input to a lot of people on!
So, now that we got that covered, lets talk more about; The Padlet Backpack!
Basically, they're keeping all the things you can do on the normal Padlet, but making things even better. Another one of my favorite things  with the new backpack is that you can add and disable people from your backpack!.  See below:

So you've got your Padlet, but you want it to look intriguing! Well with the help of my favorite tool on the new backpack you can!!! Take a look...

This is an example of how different your Padlet looks after you have added a theme and background. Down below are some of my favorites!...

Well, that's all that I have for today! Thx for reading and I'll catch you all next time!!
